Whispered World suddenly won't play any more

Beitragvon Pyewacket » So 20. Nov 2016, 10:31

I was playing it just this morning, but all of a sudden it won't start any more. It says Init failed and then something about supposedly corrupt or missing game files.

I have this game through Steam. I did the file verification thing and it said all was fine. I uninstalled and reinstalled - still won't run.

The only change made to my software was to remove the GEForce Experience thing, which wasn't working anyway and which I had never used or configured for any games. The drivers are the same drivers it was running fine on this morning. I've run this game on this machine for almost a year (offand on) with no problems.

It told me to check a messages.log file but I have NO Idea where that file is supposed to reside.

Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Intel Core i5 2410M @ 2.30GHz (Sandy Bridge)
6.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard ASUSTeK Computer Inc. K53SV

Generic PnP Monitor (1366x768@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics 3000 (ASUStek Computer Inc)
1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M (ASUStek Computer Inc)

Realtek High Definition Audio
698GB Seagate ST9750420AS (SATA)

As I said, this game has always run fine until today.

are you using a dedicated graphics card to play the game or just the IntelHD chip? Because The Whispered World requires a dedicated graphics card, this could lead to problems. Also, because the GeForce Experience Software also manages your graphics card drivers, this might have caused the issue, so re-installing the Nvidia drivers may help.
